The Red Lion is a nineteenth century coaching inn situated in the heart of the Shropshire hills. We are in a small hamlet called Longden Common, which is 5 miles South of Shrewsbury. As a family-run freehouse we aim to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, providing traditional pub food which is freshly prepared using locally-sourced produce.
BREWING IS BACK! Almost 200 years ago the Red Lion brewed all its own beer. We are now revisiting that tradition and brewing our own beer again! The Shropshire Brewer is our in-house microbrewery, situated next door to the pub in our renovated barn.
WATERING HOLE FOR WEARY WALKERS The Red Lion sits in the heart of some of the UK's finest hill walking, with local attractions such as the Long Mynd, Cardingmill Valley, Stiperstones, Corndon Hill and Pontesford Hill all within easy reach. After a day of rambling in the Shropshire hills, what better place to rest your aching muscles and quench your thirst than in our large garden or cosy bar and restaurant?
BRING THE FAMILY We have a very large garden which is home to our free range ducks and chickens who will happily come and join you if you're sitting outside. We welcome families and have introduced a swing which is just as popular with the adults as it is with the little ones!
